There are many generations in the society such as traditionalist, baby boomers, generation X, Y and Z. Generation Z is the youngest generation in the list. However, in any workplace, Generation Y, known as Echo Boomers or Millenniums, are the youngest. No one knows how it emerged, but it started in 1998 and ended in 2006. People of this era were born between 1977 and 1994, which is my generation. In the United States there are seventy-one million members of Generation Y, which represents the majority of the population. Unlike other generations, Generation Y has exceptional skills and environments for success. Such skills and characteristics are effective in business and corporations. Furthermore, the extraordinary characteristics of Generation Y greatly influence their social life. Generation Y is very family-focused and able to keep up with trends. Their general cultures are pop music, iPods, social websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and everything related to technology. In principle, Generation Y is optimistic, sociable and has high self-esteem. These features bring many pros and cons to hiring them. The pros are mostly general, but the cons are not true mostly due to misconceptions. The first advantage of Generation Y is education. Unlike Generation X, Generation Y children are well educated because their parents were very active, so parental education was available. For example, Generation Y children did not decide everything themselves. Rather they discussed with their parents and made a decision. Furthermore, the financial aspect of this generation is another reason for a good education. Most parents of this generation have dual incomes.
