Blade Runner Movie AnalysisWelcome to the year 2019. In a futuristic world, the Tyrell Corporation has given birth to replicants, robots genetically programmed to be identical to humans. Blade Runner was released in 1982 and was directed by Ridley Scott, also known for directing Alien in 1979. The science fiction thriller stars Harrison Ford and Sean Young. The film was nominated for two Oscars, including best visual effects and best art direction. Blade Runner is a 1982 neo-noir that exemplifies strong storytelling and cinematic techniques. Today, much of Blade Runner's success is due to its production design, which portrays an altered future and is a dominant film in the neo-noir genre. Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, the protagonist of the film. Deckard is a morally unstable retired bounty hunter, also known as the "Blade Runner" who hunts illegal replicants. Rachael is an experiment by the Tyrell Corporation to create a more realistic replicant by constructing false memories to provide a basis for emotional responses. Because superior artificial replicants are both physically and mentally better than humans, the government has calculated that they pose an insecurity to society. In the year 2019, replicants are illegal and do not have the freedom that humans enjoy. The specialized police unit “Blade Runner” was created to accurately identify and “retire” or kill replicants. From the beginning of the film it is clear that Deckard is the main protagonist of the film. The film immediately establishes positive identification from the audience by showing Decker as a law enforcer with authentic human emotions. For example, the main reason Deckard left the Blade... middle of paper... edom and free will. This is especially shown when Deckard runs away with Rachael and Roy Batty rebels against his creators. This theme leads Rachael to become aware of her inhumanity and consequently provokes Deckard into his own action of insurrection. Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is now one of the best science fiction films and a perfect standard of the neo-noir genre. The view of Los Angeles is an astonishing sight and immense in detail. The large-scale action is truly ingenious. Ridley Scott is an important director in the history of cinema who does not hold back in his films. Blade Runner is a very exciting science fiction film noir, combining a story full of suspense and tension, so deep in its conflict that it leads to the birth of cults. Overall, Blade Runner is a film that will keep you on your toes and force you to think about your humanity in an interesting but confusing way..
