He believed that the voices he heard were the voices of St. Catherine and St. Margaret and many other people, besides St. Michael. She believed they also told her to wear men's clothing, cut her hair and take her arms. When she first told her confessor he didn't believe her. When she tried to tell the judges, she explained to them how the voices told her that it was her divine mission to help the dolphin and save her country from the English from the darkest times during the Hundred Years' War and gain the throne of France. She is to this day one of the most heroic legends in women's history. Although Joan never lived to see her victory in ending the Hundred Years' War, she was soon known as France's national heroine. in 1920 Joan was canonized and given the title of Saint Joan of Arc by Pope Benedict XV. Joan of Arc made many positive differences through her faith in God, even through her many hardships.
