Every year, millions of illegal immigrants flee their homeland to the United States to live an American dream. Many believe that the United States is the “land of freedom and opportunity” that can promise a better quality of life for you and your family. It is essential to understand how difficult it is to struggle to live in America. Current US policy allows “..only 620,000 immigrants to obtain citizenship per year” (Goldsborough 2012). How can this be the land of opportunity if we are the land of no citizenship opportunities? There are many positive and negative issues that occur with immigration reform. It can be argued that the passage of comprehensive immigration reform can provide a huge success for our people and our country. Are you working on the introduction? Barack Obama reads a speech in Las Vegas that contains a four-part plan for "common sense" comprehensive immigration reform proposal that says strengthen borders, seeks companies to hire undocumented workers Third, requires undocumented workers documents to pay taxes and a fine, move to the back of the line, learn English and pass background checks. Finally, streamline the legal immigration system for families, workers and employers” (Reuters 2013). An example of a legal provision might be that immigrants who want to change their status from illegal to legal would have to demonstrate that they understand English. Obama is essentially letting the public know that if he can pass his comprehensive plan Congress will sign it, but if Congress refuses to act he will send his bill and expect a vote on it. It is clear that undocumented workers will boost the economy in several ways. For example, undocumented workers don't invest in big ticket items like houses and property, since they are... half paper... here illegally they can come in without all the work. The left wants more people here to depend on the government so they can increase their voter base. If you have followed this process, welcome to the United States and I wish you a happy life here. If you came here illegally, go back to your home country and go through the process of coming here legally, stop hoping the president will let you "cut the line". Current Update: Overall, it's pretty obvious now that Democrats are for immigration where Republicans are against it. “Republicans will not pass immigration reform this year, Democrats will not allow Republicans to pass their conservative version of immigration reform in 2015 or 2016, because they will have no incentive to allow Republicans to do anything that allows Republicans to make inroads among immigrants. voting blocs [sic] ahead of the presidential elections”
