In fact, Hortle (2014) states that diversifying the workforce is key to keeping employees happy and engaged. Globalization has essentially meant that the global workforce reflects a mix of cultures. In this regard, there is no doubt that challenges may arise in how to manage a culturally diverse workforce. The main basis for this statement is that different cultures have different values, which inevitably affect employee attitudes in the workplace. This document establishes that cultural values promote racial, prejudicial, and discriminatory attitudes in employees due to the need for dominant cultures to assert superiority over minority cultures. These cultural values also promote an attitude of greater competition, which inevitably results in conflicts between groups. They also influence employee attitudes towards performance and productivity in the workplace because they define the degree to which an employee is satisfied with his or her job.
