Euthanasia is the intentional killing, by act or omission, of a dependent human being for his or her perceived benefit. (The key word here is “intentional”. If the death is unwanted, it is not an act of euthanasia.) There are different classifications of euthanasia and these are voluntary euthanasia, non-voluntary euthanasia, involuntary euthanasia. To begin with, euthanasia by action intentionally causes the death of a person by performing an action such as administering a lethal injection, and euthanasia by omission, which is intentionally causing death by not providing necessary and ordinary care, nor food and water. Another type of euthanasia is assisted suicide, which is when someone provides an individual with information, guidance and means to take their own life with the intention that they will be used for this purpose. When a doctor helps another person to commit suicide, it is called "doctor-assisted suicide".
