Thesis Statement: Being a leader has many advantages and disadvantages. Could coaching an employee be beneficial to everyone involved? Being in a management position you need to be the devil's advocate and approach employees in a sensitive way to engage in the conversation about something that needs to change. What is the definition of coaching when working with adults in the workplace? Do managers need to be educated on how to coach? These are the topics that will be addressed in this essay for anyone who holds or is planning to hold a managerial role. All the skills needed to provide a safe and healthy working environment for every employee. The good news is that you can convince your managers to embrace the Pygmalion effect which can increase productivity and even boost morale in your organization. Another word used is Pygmalion effect, which means that expectations are set to higher performance standards and employees will rise to the occasion. A part of communication is crucial to get the right response from employees, a manager should be able to demonstrate that he has the skills to coach, advise and lead to greatly improve employee morale, engagement, productivity and satisfaction on the workplace. Managers can be seen as the team captain, commander or even a facilitator. Having these attributes to develop a strong relationship with employees will improve the situation of developing a relationship. By becoming a coach for his subordinates, the manager should be able to encourage employees to do their jobs well and eliminate poor performance through timely and consistent coaching.
