The Passion of the ChristThe Passion of the Christ is an admirable film but very difficult for most Christians to watch without crying and feeling dislike. The film brings with it morality by seeing what Christ has done for us and what many Christians have not done for him. The central point of the Passion of Christ is the vicious acts that prepared Jesus for his death. The Passion of Christ does not show much love shown for Christ, but instead shows how evil assails King Jesus and does not elevate King Jesus as we should too. The film begins with the prophecy: “but he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace fell upon him, and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). The Garden of Gethsemane is the place we see when the film is first made. As we observe this dark scene, we can assume that Jesus is praying or talking to himself encouraging himself to face what is about to happen. Jesus is aware of everything that will happen, but we must realize that he now has human form. We as human beings can, despite everything, develop agony as we walk with Christ. In the Passion of Christ we see the pain on the face of Jesus even though Jesus is also Divine. Jesus then finishes his invocations then goes to his disciples and finds them asleep. Jesus wakes up Peter, James and John and advises them to guard and invoke prayers so that they can avoid falling into persuasion. Judas is seen betraying Jesus just as he said. The film shows Judah earning silver coins from the chief priest and religious rulers. Judas then completes the job he was paid to do by leading the men to Jesus. When Judas and the men arrive, Judas kisses Jesus while... in the center of the card... the angel removes the stone from the tomb. The men present were frightened as the angel spoke to the women. As they began to look for Jesus, Jesus met them and invited them to tell those in Galilee that they would see him. Jesus ascended into heaven. There are many details that are left out, but I wanted to cover the most vital points leading up to Jesus' death. The main point is that Jesus chose to do this for his people. The crucifixion is proof that Jesus is truly the Messiah. The four Gospels agree that Jesus was crucified as a criminal against the Roman state (Summers, 1965) Works Cited Oxford University Press, 1977, pp. 1208, 1235, 1280Life Application Study Bible: New International Version Tyndale House Publishers.
