English 102Subject: Subject and Theme of the PoemMarch 6, 2014Aunt Jennifer's Tigers: The subject and theme of the poem: Aunt Jennifer's Tigers is very simple and clear. The basic theme is that the poet Adrienne Rich represents a very bold woman. She is a woman trapped in a fearful and timid life. The problems in his life were generated by the culture to which he belongs and by his marriage. His life is very complex and difficult, but he constantly strives to be able to fight life's challenges. He tries to stay happy and finds his own activities to keep himself happy. The theme of the poem is divided into two main parts. The first theme is the concept of unequal marriage. The poet says that in the highly male dominated world the whole concept of marriage is unjust. There is no equality in marriage just as there is no equality in society. And the second theme of the poem is that the world of imagination or the world of dreams is better than the reality of the world. The poet says this because she believes that the real world is not a safe and happy place to live, especially for women. For example, this beginning of the poem shows Aunt Jennifer's condition. Aunt Jennifer's tigers rear up on a screen, Bright. Topaz inhabitants of a green world. They do not fear the men under the tree; they walk with elegant chivalrous certainty (1) This position above proclaims the fact that the aunt has been knitting. Tigers are considered shiny and luminous. In the scree the aunt involved human beings who are not afraid. They have no fear of humans. The poet focuses on the woman in the poem. Women are the subject of… middle of paper… finding a way to deal with it. The entire focus of the poem revolved around proclaiming how Aunt Jennifer struggled to deal with her difficult life. It is amazing to read in this poem how he makes art his life and overcomes life's challenges. Aunt Jennifer's culture and married life made her life difficult, later transforming her into a bold woman; in a woman ready to take any action to start a new life and stay happy forever. From this poem one can learn the lesson that a person can achieve anything in life and overcome any situation. Difficulties are a part of everyone's life and come at any stage, but a person can overcome those difficulties and make life happy forever. This shows that the true pursuit of happiness lies in the person's struggle. The way Aunt Jennifer changed her life is an example for everyone.
