3G/4G Third generation or 3G refers to the third generation of wireless technology. The 3G network allows you to make video calls, watch live TV, access high-speed Internet and enjoy live streaming for an enhanced mobile Internet experience. The fourth generation, 4G, offers even faster speeds and ultra-wideband services, adding data-intensive services such as online gaming, high-definition mobile TV and video conferencing within the reach of the average consumer. These technologies were adopted across the world long before they were introduced in Pakistan; India, Nepal, Bangladesh and even Afghanistan had it. 2G GSM networks have been widely used, but 3G/4G is the latest and fastest version and therefore is the main topic of our report. During the course of this project, these technologies were in the process of being launched and thus we were faced with various contradictory and conflicting information regarding this unexplored area of Pakistan's telecommunications. The prerequisites for this technology are a 3G connection and a 3G compatible mobile phone with 3G coverage. areas. Since the issue was first raised in 2006, many companies had their infrastructure in place by 2008 and could have launched it by then as the country had 3G-capable networks. 3G could also have been used on computers and tablets with broadband since the smartphone is not the only device enabled. However, due to significant delay by the government, the technologies were finally launched in 2014. This means that all 3G compatible mobile phones can use this technology in some way, regardless of the network used. Currently, only expensive smartphones have both 3G and 4G enabled, while most mid-priced ones only have 3G and low-priced ones only have 2G. Although the following advantages could be de...... middle of paper ..... The .tion of the spectra finally occurred in 2014 . This year, as some suspect, the government needed to raise money and so held an auction. In this way, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority raised $1.112 billion. Four telcos Mobilink, Zong, Telenor and Ufone won 3G licenses while Zong was the only 4G winner. Warid Telecom Pakistan did not make any bids but still managed to launch its 4G LTE services based on the previous license. The base price for a 3G license was $295 million and for a 4G license it was $210 million and the government earned about 1.16% more than the base prices.
