Topic > A Brief Biography of Tiger Woods - 887

"Every day on the golf course is about making small adjustments, taking what you got that day and finding a way to deal with it." -Tiger Woods. This quote doesn't just refer to golf, but can be linked to what Tiger represents as an individual. Tiger, even at a young age, was treated as one of the best golfers who ever lived. He was beating professionals like John Daly at the age of 13. Even at that young age he was being recruited by many top-tier colleges, including Stanford, University of Las Vegas or UNLV, and Washington University. College was just a small step for Tiger, he had a bigger goal in mind. Become the best golfer to ever walk the earth. Although not everything was easy for Tiger. Tiger had to face difficulties such as racist comments, lack of money and a lot of cunning. They were just small pebbles on a dirt road. Tiger knew that to be the best golfer in the world he would have to take it one step at a time, or as he would put it, one shot at a time. Tiger was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California. He received the name Tiger because Earl Woods, Tiger's father, served in the Vietnam War alongside a soldier from West Vietnam who always wanted to have a son and name him Tiger. Unfortunately he was missing in action and to this day his whereabouts are unknown. This gave Earl the idea to name his first and only son Eldrick "Tiger" Woods. Tiger's parents were Earl Woods, of African and Hispanic descent, and Kultida Woods, originally from Thailand, also part Caucasian. This made the tiger part African, Asian, Hispanic and Caucasian. Whenever Tiger had to enter what his gender was, he was just as likely to choose one of these options. A person might wonder why they would do… middle of paper… I will be a better friend. This is the beauty of tomorrow.” and “If you are given a chance to be a role model, I think you should always take it because you can influence a person's life in a positive light, and that's what I want to do. That's what it's all about." What these quotes show is that Tiger is the greatest competitor, no matter what he focuses on. It doesn't matter if he's trying to win his next major, be the best father he can be, or help an 8 year old boy who was unable to get a good education because he was marginalized. The world as a whole would be different without Tiger Woods, the greatest athlete to ever walk the earth. Works Cited1 ." Rugu RSS. Np, nd Web. 23 April 2014.2. Strega, John.
