As I pondered my intentions to pursue a Masters in Computer Science at Oklahoma State University, I would like to shed some light on my career thus far, I have always imagined myself dealing with computers since my childhood and the thought of becoming a software engineer was implanted in my mind at an early age. A career in engineering seemed like the most challenging and logical extension of my skills. After high school I was determined to secure a position in the field of information technology, which deals with the fields of computers, communications and networks. To achieve this I had to qualify the EAMCET entrance exam for Andhra Pradesh, India. I scored well in the exam and secured a seat in Computer Engineering at VRSiddhartha Engineering College, affiliated to Nagarjuna University. At VRSEC I was fortunate to have a well-compiled program, which also placed equal emphasis on theoretical foundations as practical applications. Subjects such as Computer Organization, Digital Logic Design, Microprocessor Applications have laid a solid foundation in the theoretical aspects of the subjects. Practical application aspects were introduced to me through topics such as object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, relational database management systems, Internet technologies. The areas that I am particularly interested in are focused on computer communications, software engineering, e-commerce applications. I'm interested in learning more about cryptography and artificial intelligence. My interest in networks began when I read in Information Technology magazine the various fields of application in which it could be used. I am a regular reader of magazines like IE... middle of paper... India's rapid growth. It is therefore essential that talented Indian graduates are given every opportunity to broaden their education and skills in order to play an active role in managing the opportunities that arise in the future. India is rapidly gaining a reputation for its IT industry and is currently not considered the software hub and as a result many of the top notch multinationals are establishing their contact centers in India. As a result, an international degree is focused on IT job opportunities in India. Possible career opportunities for me in India include research and development roles in developing new technologies such as software engineering, technical application developers and consultants, network managers and other leading IT roles.
