The other day while I was driving home I received a text message. I immediately grabbed it and responded while I was driving. Just for a second I got distracted by looking at my phone instead of paying attention to the road. When I looked at the road again I realized that I had just passed a stop sign without realizing it! Why are we so obsessed with cell phones? Why can't we wait to answer? The problem I would like to address is the addiction to mobile devices and communication. The inappropriate use of these devices causes accidents as it easily distracts you from the road and, even if it brings you closer to those who are far away, it also distances you from those who are close to you. The solution I offer to this problem is to create a law in the state of Florida that prohibits and penalizes hands-free cell phone use and texting while driving. Nowadays, cell phones have become one of the first (if not the first) necessary technologies of the century. People's lives are becoming more and more dependent on the use of this device, and users are unable to manage the time they spend on texting and talking. Years pass and people continue to depend more and more on this gadget to continue living. It's really different from the old days when people didn't even have phones at home. Now everyone has become accustomed to these devices being the only way to get what they want or need at any time. However, all this is predictable from the current society because they were born in times when this technology has already taken on most of the importance, so they are not used to using other options.
