Topic > The Importance of My Mother - 2273

The school my mother attended offered a school trip where the students had to stay in Albania for ten days. My mother quickly returned home that day and informed my grandfather of the meeting that would be held at school regarding the field trip. When my grandfather returned home, my mother realized that the girls were not going on that trip. My grandfather was the only parent who stood up and fought for his daughter's right to go on the field trip. That night he told my mother that he knew she was a bright, intelligent girl who would make him proud on this trip. He said that my mother had to set a good example so that other girls could come the following year. She informed my mother that she was someone who would make a change and pave the way for girls of the future. My mother was very young at the time and was afraid to go on the trip alone without her friends. Yet he reflects and says that this trip was one of the most beautiful experiences. He had all his male friends and also made friends with girls who dated elsewhere
