Topic > The Risks of Climate Change - 1786

Entering this course I was only vaguely aware of the risks of climate change and the dangerous effects of global warming that are becoming evident in our environment. The material I learned in this course gave me a much better understanding of how important it is to do my best to prevent these negative effects on the environment. It is extremely critical that the world's inhabitants learn to stop destroying the environment, focus on reducing these negative effects, and maintain a strong and healthy world in which to live. Climate can be any type of pattern or action that a general area of land experiences during a certain period of time, such as: precipitation, temperature, or wind pressures. Due to the poor treatment of the environment and the constant increase in global temperatures, there will likely be many negative changes and consequences that the human race will have to adapt to in order to survive. So, what are some of the consequences of this global climate change? According to the “Impact and Remediation” PDF file, some projected consequences include: rising sea levels due to melting ice and glaciers (which could result in the loss of coastal communities and islands), severe damage or destruction of ecosystems (causing the death of entire species). be threatened or wiped out), human food supplies decline, and human health is threatened due to changes in disease or affected areas. Most glaciers in danger of melting represent vital water sources for some populations. The threat of much higher sea levels is also an extreme concern due to disappearing glaciers. As sea levels rise, water will eventually creep onto human lands and may even destroy...... half of the document ......her Education, 2009. Print."Global climate change ."
