Popularity of JavaJava is a programming language designed to run dynamic, interactive, and secure applications on computer systems. Java has several features that make it extremely popular. Although Java has gained considerable popularity due to its use on the Internet, Java has also been adapted to the operating systems of numerous commonly used electronic devices. How Java is Used in IndustrySince its inception in 1995, Java has started to spread across the world. world of programming like a virus, gaining popularity wherever it is used. The most common implementation of Java has been through the “applet” for use on the Internet. Java applets run in the background; users often don't even know they are using a Java applet (Catalano, 1999). With the use of applets, organizations can run an application on virtually any machine regardless of their platform (Catalan). Java applets have become an industry standard in part due to their cross-platform capabilities. However, greater functionality than HTML, although commonly reserved for more advanced interfaces, has also contributed to the success of Java applets. (Catalan). The Internet applet is not Java's only success story. Around 2000, Sun Microsystems released what is now known as the Java Micro Edition, abbreviated Java ME (Giguere). Just as a wildfire spreads in the summer wind, Java ME has spread rapidly, dominating browsers and mobile games. “All major mobile device vendors, including Nokia, Motorola, ... and Sony, have adopted Java as part of their core strategy for future smart devices” (Yuan, 2004). Mobile gaming is on the rise with Java paving the way for flash gaming, including 3D mobile gaming (mobile gaming).
