PepsiCoThirst for a cold Mountain Dew or Pepsi? Hungry for Ruffles chips? Or maybe it's breakfast time and there's some Quaker oatmeal on the menu. These are just some of the items handled by the PepsiCo company. PepsiCo handles a variety of items, from drinks and snacks to Quaker products, from breakfast cereals to Gatorade and Propel Zero water. PepsiCo has remained a very successful organization during these difficult economic times. PepsiCo's executive management team has done an exceptional job of managing the company through the recession and creating greater global expansion for the company. This document will explain how the company is managed, what the culture is like, how management control is managed, and how this balance creates a great company like PepsiCo. Strategy, Planning and Operations Strategy is the plan for how an organization will do what it is in the business of doing, how it will compete successfully, and how it will attract and satisfy its customers in order to achieve its objectives (Robbins & Coulter, 2009, p.163). Strategic management is what managers do to help achieve the organization's strategic goals. PepsiCo has an excellent leader in its president and CEO, Indra Nooyi. Nooyi created the strategy called Performance with Purpose. “Performance with Purpose includes PepsiCo's commitment to continue building a portfolio of enjoyable and healthy foods and beverages, to find innovative ways to reduce energy, water and packaging use, and to provide an optimal work environment for our employees ” (“Our Leadership,” 2011, paragraph 2).
