INTRODUCTION1. NATO, which stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, was founded on April 4, 1949 after World War II, as an active and major contributor to international peace and security by creating a political and military alliance between countries. The alliance initially consisted of 12 countries and later expanded widely to 28 countries in Western Europe and North America, placing its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, considering that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America as an attack on all of them. NATO uses English and French as its official languages. NATO's motto is “Animus in Consulendo Liber”2. NATO's purpose was to counter the growing Soviet threat in Europe after World War II, including communist takeovers in Central and Eastern Europe, pressure on Norway, Greece and Turkey, and the Berlin Blockade of 1948 (Haglund , 2014).
