The Scarlet Letter is a text written by Nathaniel Hawthorne in 1850, a fictional work that tells the story of England during the Puritan age and the story of women named Hester Prynne. The author considers this text a romantic work because it talks about love and the adulteress. The text involves facts and fictions of the author, for example the "Custom-House" is a real fact, while the author worked as a surveyor in the Salem custom house in Massachusetts. The customs house was actually a building where taxes were paid, one day he discovers some documents and manuscripts and the piece of cloth with the letter "A". Hawthorne decides to read the manuscripts Hawthorne then begins to write his fictional work when he holds the letter A in his chest he feels a burning sensation He uses the art of imagination to write a story about a woman named Hester Prynne. At the beginning of the text the scarlet letter there is a real fact, but later the narrator begins to write his fictional work about Hester Prynne and her experiences. The Scarlet Letter is considered an important work for the narrator as it involves some important morals such as committing sin, the nature of Puritan society, and the importance of personal identity. Hester Prynne committing a sin is considered one of the important morals in the Scarlet Letter.
