Topic > The Importance of Metacognition on Students - 1123

I try to remember and learn everything word for word in but and I find myself overwhelmed. Dr. Chew explains deep learning as “relating new information to prior knowledge or making information personally meaningful” (Chew, Getting the Most Out of Studying: Part 2 of 5, 2011). I find the thepoint software and practice questions very helpful in helping me understand what I know and what I need to go back and review. My study technique consists of listening to podcasts, taking NCLEX-style quizzes, studying in groups, and reading assigned text. When I listen to the podcast I try to follow the book, highlight what the person is talking about and take notes from there. I use NCLEX style quizzes to ease my anxiety about what the test will be like regarding the 1 question per page style. I find it very useful at the end of the quizzes, I can see the reasons and compare how and why the correct answers are so. When we study with a group, we all separate specific goals and accomplish them, we get together and read everyone's answers and look at the page to see where we got the answers. If anyone disagrees, let's all look at the book and also find the correct answer. Reading the text is my least favorite thing to do because it takes the most time and I find myself skimming and trying to remember only the terms and key words of the text.
