The United States government system is very interesting and complex. The state and federal governments are mirrors of each other when it comes to the generic executive branch, legislative branch, and judicial branch, however, internally the state government has major differences in how the branches are conducted. In this article we will discuss the biggest difference between state and federal, which is that the state cannot change or remove laws passed by the federal government but can change the way it executes federal laws to its liking as long as it is constitutional. States include the federal and state governments. The federal government is located in the District of Columbia where it is run by three branches, the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. State governments are structured to emulate the federal government, except there is one for each state and located in the state capital. The federal government controls all 50 states and their governments under the Constitution. State governments, on the other hand, are responsible for governing their selective state under their individual constitutions, as the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution allows the state government to have powers that are not clearly stated in the Constitution. (Tenth Amendment) Although these two governments parallel each other, there are differences in the inner workings of how their three branches are run, and also in how laws are initiated when the federal government establishes federal law over the states. The average American citizen has more daily interactions with state government than federal government.
