Respect is an important quality. For most people these days, respect is an important factor. The reason this is an important factor is because without respect you can't get anywhere in life. When you respect an individual that person will feel loved and feel important, as we saw in the movie “Spanglish”. Although many individuals look to the position of others in society to gauge the amount of respect they will give them, it is primarily up to the individuals themselves to have enough trust and earn the respect they believe they should get. Without respect you cannot have true friends, have a decent job and above all be a decent person. In the movie “Spanglish” and the story “Stolen Party” we saw examples of some characters showing respect and some characters being disrespectful. We have also seen that when you are respectful you are loved more and cared for more. In the story “Stolen Party” we saw how being disrespectful can ruin someone's friendship and life. The novel also showed us how some high class individuals treat lower class individuals. The “stolen party” was a very sad story because it showed us how he treats his best friend Luciana, Rosaura because her mother is a maid at Lucian's house. Luciana made Rosaura do some crafts at her birthday party and when the party was over everyone got a long awaited toy from Rosaura, Luciana gave Rosaura $2 dollars and told her "you deserved it, my pet" . If someone were in Rosaura's shoes, how would you feel if your best friend told you this? If I were in his shoes I would feel unwanted and like no one loved or cared about me. So yes, respect is an important quality, because without respect the world would be a chaotic place and even without respect there could be no humanity.... middle of paper...I think about what you'll do or say if it's right or wrong? I personally think that when there is respect between two individuals, they listen and help each other, this provides a positive flow in society. As I said before, without respect there would be no humanity, and this world would be a place of chaos. I ask every individual today to try to be respectful and see what they can achieve while being respectful. When you start respecting people you will have more friends and everyone will love and care about you. Also, respect doesn't come from one individual, it has to come from both individuals, so be the bigger person and respect that individual first.
