Leadership and managementIn my mind leadership and management are two different entities which when combined together make a perfect leader. Now how can we distinguish between both these words, let me give some examples of leadership and explain it and then I will give some examples of management and give its examples as well. In my professional as well as personal life I may have found many people who would like to call themselves leaders and/or good managers, but that may not be true.1- Leadership: Leadership can be explained as follows.• Effective leadership is not about doing speeches or pleasure; leadership is defined by results and not attributes. • A good leadership goal is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better. • Effective leadership is about putting things first. Effective management is discipline, putting it into practice. In my mind these are some of the key elements that a leader should have, any of the above listed elements missing in a leader may simply be a person who leads the crown but may not have leadership qualities. Likewise leaders must be patient and should treat everyone equally and with the same vision and eye. Now here I would like to give an example of bad leadership that I have personally experienced in my professional life. I used to work for a company and it was a large multinational organization that was always talking about equality and other fancy words like that, however what I saw and observed was that the leaders/managers are actually the ones who don't follow them and there was nothing that employees can do as if someone wants to complain, the manager will make their life more and more difficult day after day... middle of paper....... In my summary I want to say that not everyone who is given an opportunity to become a leader or manager can be a good manager or leader, it takes a lot of time, effort and mind to make someone a successful leader/manager. To become a good manager or leader I think they should be active listeners and passive but goal oriented speakers, no matter if it is a long term or short term project, they should also be passionate and compassionate, they should have experience and knowledge of their area of expertise. In other words, management is the illusion of being able to change people, leadership is deluding others instead of deluding yourself, or in simple words management is getting work done through others, and leadership is leading people where they didn't. been but I have to/want to go. I have attached some photos to distinguish between leaders and managers.
