Pathways Awareness Foundation, headquartered in Chicago, IL, was founded in 1984 and is a national nonprofit organization. This organization is committed to raising awareness about early diagnosis and the benefits of early therapy for children with motor and sensory delays. Pathways Awareness provides information to parents and caregivers through their website, social media, free print content, conferences and medical courses. Most importantly, this organization is passionate about supporting parents by offering up-to-date information, a variety of resources, and a sense of community for their children as they grow. Pathways Awareness' mission is to "inform parents and caregivers about the prevention, detection and treatment of early motor, sensory, feeding and communication delays" (Pathways Awareness, Media Room). The organization spreads awareness about these delays in development reaching the entire media spectrum. In fact, Pathways Awareness generates video and web-based content that can be viewed online and in print. A large part of the external awareness activity consists of continuously updating the website and sites of social media, while the internal awareness activity involves the production and distribution of newsletters, press releases and brochures several times a year in order to keep parents and healthcare professionals updated with information and events , the Pathways brochure, “Making the Best for Your Child's Physical Development,” has been endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) (Pathways Awareness, FAQ).
