Social Security is the primary source of retirement income and an essential part of an individual's retirement. For nearly 80 years it has helped Americans pay their pensions. In Animal Farm, a novel by George Orwell, the animals have overthrown humans and live under the leadership of a pig named Napoleon. When the animals get together for the first time and rename the farm “Animal Farm”, they establish the retirement age and agree on pensions. However, when winter arrives and resources and food become scarce, the idea of retiring is put aside and the situation worsens considerably; the farm falls deeper into poverty every day. The government should continue to provide Social Security retirement benefits to its citizens once they leave the workforce because these benefits play a crucial role in reducing poverty, help people become economically secure, and people depend on them. they are important to the well-being of the nation because they prevent people from becoming impoverished. Paul Van de Water and Arloc Sherman of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities say in their article "Social Security Keeps 21 Million Americans Out of Poverty: A State-by-State Analysis" that Social Security locks out approximately 1.1 million children , 5.8 million adults and 14.5 million elderly people fall below the poverty line (1) . Van de Water and Sherman's statement reveals the extent to which Social Security affects poverty in the United States. There is a clear correlation between Social Security and poverty: as pension benefits increase, poverty levels fall lower and lower, and millions upon millions of Americans are prevented from falling below the poverty line.
