It was feared that his interactions with these young men would teach them to "make the weakest argument stronger." It is clear how this accusation of youth corruption would have negatively affected the city; in a society that relies on skilled oration to decide important issues, being able to convincingly argue the weakest, and therefore immoral, argument would have been a dangerous skill, especially if possessed by large numbers of men . It seems clear that Socrates, described in Plato's Apology, uses this technique in his defense. His skillful maneuvering around the question of his faith, as mentioned above, is just one example of this style of argumentation in Plato's work.
