Food from your culture is a way to show who you identify with. In the book Food Is Culture Massimo states: “Food is a decisive element of human identity and is one of the most effective means for expressing and communicating this identity”. (Highlanders xii) The food of their birth culture shows what their blood family and people who look like them eat. For example, some well-known Chinese dishes such as sweet and sour pork or gong bao chicken are very different from Greek food such as baklava or moussaka. These two immensely different dishes share with us much of the culture of these very different civilizations.
