Students, or "kippsters," get a highly sought-after education for their area. Students fully surrender to the school motto "Knowledge is Power", while teachers truly believe that all their students are capable of gaining this knowledge through the learning process. Their goal is simple in theory; to help all of their students achieve the highest possible personal academic scores to propel them toward college education. Marita has fully absorbed this hard-working opportunity offered by the school along with the help and adoration of her wonderful teachers and KIPP teaching staff. The nonprofit public television broadcaster PBS created a documentary that shows the diligence with which KIPP operates and why it is such a pristine learning environment. PBS described this teacher-invented phenomenon of humanitarian grace as “that sense of urgency that drives KIPP teachers to sign a contract pledging to be available to their students at all times” (PBS). This dedication to students helps student morale. This similar experience of Marita reminds me of my cousin Cati who also attended a school with goals and aspirations like KIPP.
