Change is an aspect of the business world that leaders must be able to adapt to. Leadership is a management approach and leaders play a different role than supervisors when driving change (Jovanovic, Nikolic, Savic, Sajfert, & Dakovic, 2010). O'Regan and Ghobadian (2004) describe leadership as the process by which people voluntarily commit themselves to achieving the organization's mission. An organization's leadership strategy is the method used to assist the organization in achieving its objectives. Department managers play a critical role in driving change and helping the organization achieve its goals. These managers also help their organizations realize their visions by inspiring employees. Change is the process of making things different. As trends change, the way an organization conducts business is also subject to change. The pace at which organizations experience change is accelerating as economic changes fluctuate and technological changes continue to advance. As changes progress, “organizations will be forced to change in an unprecedented way” (O'Brien & Robertson, 2009, p. 371). Organizational leaders are pressured by the demands of change while continuing to take responsibility for ensuring that the organization achieves its maximum productivity goals, leading to increased profits. Leadership strategies will be explored by this analysis. We will examine the main challenges managers face and the skills needed to complete their jobs effectively.
