The proposed research is an examination of workplace violence in corporate America. As it is a growing concern across all industries, preventative measures need to be explored. Three types of research methods will be compared and contrasted in relation to the proposed research. The methods to be analyzed are quantitative designs, qualitative designs, and mixed methods designs. The appropriateness of each project in relation to the topic will be examined. Workplace violence is a serious issue that deserves exploration due to the number of incidents and the severity of some incidents. This study will focus on the possibility of violent encounters that employees of two Boards of Education in separate districts could become victims of by considering the events that occur in the districts. The objective of the study is to evaluate the risk of possible episodes of violence in the two Boards of Education. The study will also examine preventive measures already in place and offer suggestions for improving them. Quantitative Methods A research design is a plan for collecting and analyzing information. The plan specifies the procedures and method that will be used (Zikmund, Babin, Carr, & Griffin, 2010). The first design to explore when conducting workplace violence research is quantitative research. Quantitative research addresses research objectives through empirical methods that include measurement and analysis in numerical format (Zikmund et al., 2010). This type of research is appropriate when the objective is a standard managerial action such as deciding to market a new item. (Zikmund et al., 2010) The hypothetical use of quantitative methods to explore workplace violence as...... half of the paper ...... red the hypothetical use of three research methods for the proposed topic. While each method can be useful for research, each has strengths and weaknesses that need to be weighed before choosing a method. Workplace violence is a deadly and costly problem that organizations must be proactive about to ensure the safety of all employees. Works Cited Cozby, P. C. (2009). Methods in behavioral research.
