Before starting this study, I was more in tune with the first meaning and was convinced that philosophy was simply a personal assumption and not a true study of life. For me, philosophy was seen as people asking too many questions about things that didn't require questions, or as something already established and immutable, already expounded by those who had studied the questions of life before. However, I find that this is not actually the case and that philosophy touches on many different aspects of other branches of study, such as science, mathematics and psychology, and that many of those involved in these branches of study have made contributions to philosophy (Critchley). Therefore, although philosophy has a dual meaning and many have different ideas about it, I now believe that philosophy is a much more important aspect of study than I previously thought. Even if the only thing learned in a study of philosophy is how to think critically for oneself and use the knowledge gained to become wise, this is still of great benefit and much more beneficial to see philosophy under the meaning of criticism.
