Following in the footsteps of his brother Robert Francis Kennedy emerged as a powerful leader courageous enough to challenge norms and make progress in unifying a nation. He was passionate about advocating for equality and was proactive in laying the foundation for much-needed progress and change in the future. There is a strong and fond memory of Robert F. Kennedy because he was able to face obstacles and challenges during a time of turmoil and face them with respect, remaining strong and committed to his beliefs. Kennedy earned the admiration of all people as he successfully unified the nation in many aspects. However, Kennedy left a lasting impression on African Americans as he believed in and fought for their rights. After the assassination of the young Kennedy, the nation mourned together and was soon filled with anguish and reacted in various ways. After graduating from the University of Virginia Law School in 1951, he went to work in the Criminal Division of the Justice Department and later served three years as chief counsel of the Senate Select Committee on Improper Activities in Labor and Management. Eventually President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Robert's brother, appointed him attorney general as part of his cabinet. (Roberts, 24-25, 33). President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, leaving Robert F. Kennedy with immense grief (Palermo, 83-84). Kennedy resigned as attorney general a year later and was still struggling to deal with the loss of his brother. He was determined to challenge the same issues his brother championed, and since John F. Kennedy's death he worked passionately in his brother's memory (Mahoney, 376-377). Emerging as an influential member of the powerful Jus...... middle of paper...... Department, he garnered considerable attention across the nation and succeeded in promoting the black liberation movement. It will always be inevitable for people to strive for equality, as most human beings are not willing to accept immoral conditions. Watching television, reading books, newspapers etc. people are easily able to become aware of and influenced by many prominent leaders over time, including Robert F. Kennedy. Kennedy lived a life committed to promoting progress and social change. However, after his assassination the nation mourned together and was soon filled with anguish and reacted in various ways. Initially feeling hopeless, Americans were unsure how to make changes and make a difference without such noble leaders. However, the nation was able to use Kennedy's legacy as a weapon to overcome challenges and continue to make much-needed progress in the future..
