In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul opens this section of his letter by answering the first of those questions that the Corinthians had written to him. From the first verse, it was clear that the issue had to do with marriage because that place was made up of a moral dishonesty in their culture that allows all types of fornication, adultery, homosexuality, etc. In light of this, some believers had a conception of marital confusion that it would be better to be single than to face marital problems and sexual sins. After all, some believers began to divorce their wives to be single and more spiritual. In the midst of these problems, the Corinthians decided to send a letter to the apostle Paul in Ephesus asking for his views on this matter. According to MacArthur's study of the Bible, "The letter was probably delivered by Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus." The entire message in chapter seven was written to help believers know how they can serve God in their circumstances. Specifically, how celibacy can work for Christ and believers in marriage can glorify God in marriage. The first instruction given in marriage by the apostle Paul begins in verses 1-9 with the synonym that: “It is good for a man not to touch a woman” (V.1). The synonym or euphemism that Paul uses in the verse can be understood just from the Jewish content, it's not basically about a man touching a woman or being celibate as a normal expression goes, but he was saying that it's not good to have sexual intimacy with a woman while you're still single He continued to give an accurate explanation in (V.2) of the sexual immorality that everyone should have in their wife or husband to avoid underlining the issue of sexual sin for singles. From this evi...... middle of paper . .....But unmarried people have more advantages in serving the Lord than married couples (v. 32). For this reason they serve; the Lord with problems and expectations. (v.35) On the other hand, getting married is not a sin, because it prevents “disorders of the flesh,” that is, the body requires sexual intimacy (v.28-29). The second reasoning in verses 35 and 28 is that being married does not deprive you of serving God, but you can get married and serve the Lord with a diligent heart. With Paul's encouragement of celibacy in Corinthians, it is good to be a celibate believer if you are gifted. Because single people have more privileges to work for the Lord, since they are not bound by any law of submission to marriage. For example, the widow is not bound by any marriage laws. (V39-40)
