Mission Statement I have decided to write an editorial with the main motive to convince people about what childhood obesity is doing to our society and the entire world. Also what are my views and opinions on this topic. This is a problem that is spreading widely across the world and is not only a serious health problem but also has a great impact on the economy. I wanted to keep this peace pretty short and to the point, so I set out to develop an editorial that did it well. This editorial is mainly aimed at parents who have children, which will also impact children as their parents have the correct information on this issue. In this editorial I communicate the idea that childhood obesity must be stopped and is a problem that is growing and must be addressed for the health of future generations. Childhood ObesityWhen I come home from school on weekends one of the first things I do is eat. I enter the kitchen, open the refrigerator door and see several bottles of fresh milk. As I dig deeper I find fresh and inventive cheeses and vegetables. Then I would look down and see what was for dinner in the next few days. The freezer would be full of bacon, freshly purchased steaks, pork and lamb. My mom would then prepare a big dinner with all these wonderful foods. And we would sit there and talk about our weeks. But what would it be like if I were poor? I would open the door of a cheap old refrigerator to find some cheap old rotten milk. I would try to find some healthy middle of the road food but I would find chips and chocolate biscuits. I wouldn't find any meat or vegetables. I would sit there and eat chips by myself. Obesity. The main points I will cover include the cost of obesity, how it works... middle of paper..., high blood pressure, arterial disease, vascular disease, heart attack, stroke and more. in some rare cases it can cause cancer. In the diagram, the red bars show deaths in the United States caused by diet or obesity. Finally a solution to the problem. The convenience of healthy food is limited especially in New Zealand. McDonald's and other fast food restaurants were open 24/7 and were always available. This makes it much more likely that people will go and buy these fast food products, as they are convenient and even the cheapest and healthiest food options should always be available and are cheap and quick. The government has started to consider taxing sugary products. A tax on fizzy drinks could save millions of dollars for health programs across New Zealand. It is estimated that a 20% tax on fizzy drinks could save the lives of 67 Kiwis a year. Obesity must end.
