If males feel their reputation is threatened, they will do whatever it takes to maintain it. Britt Galon and Marion Underwood said, “Boys may use their fists to fight, but at least it's over quickly,” (Kassin et al., 2014, p. 442), and Vladas Griskevicius said, “…Don't worry of status, what may be implied by walking away from a fight may be evolutionary suicide. Aggression can lead to status…” (Kassin et al., 2014, p. 445). how males fight in real life and also in movies. Like in the movie “Never Back Down”, it illustrates how society teaches young males how to manage their aggression. The main character, Jake Tyler, was involved in the fight and had to confront the local bully, Ryan McCarthy several times. The fights became extremely violent, but Jake persevered and ended the fight bully, so he found extra motivation and did something about it. Along the same lines, parents tend to give their children a pat on the back or some form of praise for taking revenge against someone who caused them some type of wrong.
