The Thanksgiving/Christmas season is quickly approaching. I love these two holidays. I love what they represent. Thanksgiving: Thank God for His fruitful generosity, thank Him for getting us through another year. The pilgrims understood that everything they had came from God; I often wonder how much luckier we would be if more Americans adopted this attitude. It's sad to see stores open on Thanksgiving. It started a couple of years ago, the shops started opening at midnight, then at ten and now some are open at four in the afternoon. Thanksgiving and Christmas were the two days a year when only emergency people worked. On Christmas 1978 I ran out of gas just after midnight on Christmas morning (Christmas Eve night for some). I worked security, 4 to 12 shift. I had planned to get gas on the way to work that evening. On Christmas Eve, not a single gas station was open at 3 p.m. I went to work but ended up walking seven miles home after running out of gas about halfway.
