Have you ever imagined what the world was like before the Internet was invented? Have you ever wondered how people got along before Charles Babbage invented computers? So let's take a look at the world of computers: a lifesaver that many people rely on every day for their needs. Yes, it's the Internet. The Internet is the largest information resource composed of a network of hundreds of millions of computers located throughout the world (Johnson, 7). It consists of a set of computers, a set of physical (or wireless) connections, and a set of rules or protocols that govern the exchange of information between them (Pallen, 1422). The invention of the Advanced Research Projects Agency was one of the world's largest networks (ARPANET) in 1969. It was one of the world's first operational packet-switching networks, the first network to implement TCP/IP, and the progenitor of what it would become the global Internet (Kleinrock). ARPANET represented the new era for many people as there was no longer the need to travel with the heavy burden of textbooks. Furthermore, since the Internet is accessible to anyone, it is inexpensive and affordable for everyone. Not only is it used to search for information and ideas, but it has also proven to be a faster and more efficient means of communication around the world. Used skillfully, the Internet shrinks the world and brings information, skills and knowledge on almost every topic imaginable to your computer. There is so much information that comes from the Internet, as it is updated every second with news from all over the world. All over the world, people have the ability to share information with each other clearly and quickly. Therefore, connect freely and this has improved cultural and social interaction...... middle of paper ....../pwf/pharmwebf1.html>"Internet World Stats- Usage and Populations Statistics."
