After jeans' breakthrough as a trend and as an item of workwear, they have become a symbol of Western culture. To the world, jeans were “like a magnificent flag that says 'USA' to the world at large” (Sullivan 215). Although jeans have always been an “American” product, they soon began to attract people around the world.
