Assisted suicide has been a controversial issue for some time now. It is also confused with the term euthanasia; however the two do not mean the same thing. Euthanasia is the killing of another to relieve his pain; while assisted suicide is the practice in which an individual assists the person who commits suicide. Practicing both these issues gives relief to the suffering person. Assisted suicide has positive and negative aspects. There is debate as to whether it should be legal or not. Some of the positive aspects of assisted suicide are that it relieves a person of the pain they feel. The person has the right to choose how they want to die because this falls under the equal protection clause. Cancer patients don't necessarily like the idea of physician assistant suicide. Some negative aspects of assisted suicide are that it violates the ethics that people may have. It is also compared to euthanasia and people believe it is just as harmful as assisted suicide. Neither assisted nor physician-assisted suicide should be legal in the United States. The articles Technical Difficulties and National Center for Biotechnology Information will help with support and evidence as to why there are benefits and downsides to assisted suicide, but regardless it still should not be legal. Assisted suicide has some advantages. One of these benefits is that it helps to end the suffering of the person suffering. A few years ago there was a case of a woman who was suffering from pain and the court denied her request that her husband help her end her life. According to professors Len Doyal and Lesly Doyal of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, Diane Pretty was denied her legal right to choose the circus...... at the center of the paper, but that still doesn't change the situation. fact that it is morally wrong to make it legal. Here in the United States it is already illegal. A state might have something legal similar to assisted suicide but with a different name. This should be revoked and made illegal.
