Topic > Compare and contrast Frankenstein and Caleb Williams

It's a good way to show that both Frankenstein and Caleb Williams share a symbolic relationship; however, things will easily get complicated if the reader knows nothing about the novel Caleb Williams. What Harvey does throughout his essay is break both novels into individual parts, provide a summary of the key points of his claims, and it's easy to follow. For example, in the text of Harvey's essay, he points out, "Both Frankenstein and Caleb Williams are essentially research novels" (24). It can be a little confusing at first to make a general statement, but what Harvey does well is that his summary of both novels is specific enough to be understood and relatable. “In Caleb Williams Caleb admires Falkland and seems to regard him as a substitute for his father, and is overcome with remorse when he finally brings him to justice. In Frankenstein the monster recognizes Frankenstein as his creator and when Frankenstein dies he plans to cremate himself”
