I can't completely disagree with this statement because I believe that art and language both play a huge role in our lives and progress in this world, it doesn't matter what form it comes in. Tolstoy argues that art plays a central role in the development of humanity. If language and art are two separate functions, I don't think art has a central role in the development of humanity but art and language as a whole do. Every day, no matter where we are or sit, different art forms and expressions of individuals surround us
