Some seniors don't have family members to hang out with and that's when volunteers can get involved. Often the elderly are sent to a nursing or care home and forgotten. What we did for the elderly as volunteers on May 28, 2016 empowered and reassured them of their importance. I've learned that the little things we do to help out as a volunteer go a long way. I hope more people take the time to volunteer in aged care facilities. My parents instilled great values ​​in me, but they didn't teach me how important it is to serve others around you. I am committed to teaching my children how important and rewarding it is to help others. This experience was so profound for me that I decided to participate in our service learning here at DBU. All colleges and universities required service activities as part of students' studies. I think service learning helps shape our youth into thoughtful, productive individuals. I will definitely continue to volunteer at Brookdale
