Technology is now used for everything and is found everywhere. Students are more likely to use computers, tablets, portable gaming systems or smartphones on a daily basis. Teachers know that students desire the use of technology; as a result, educators now need to start teaching with technology in mind. Educators must also teach students how to use the specific technology and the ethics that accompany its use. An educator should start with educational games and slowly progress to full lessons. This is to slowly acclimatize students to new technologies. There are countless great websites and other types of educational technology that educators can have in their arsenal. Here are some online sites: abcmouse.com, primarygames.com, abcya.com, ixl.com and kiddyhouse.com. There are also many types of portable teaching systems: LeapFrog (LeapPads and Tag) and V-tech (Inno Tab and v-readers). The use of “technology will not make a difference in the quality of students who graduate from primary and secondary schools unless teachers learn to integrate the use of technology into their curriculum and use it as a tool to enhance learning” (Shelly, Gunter, & Gunter, 2010, p 436).Five educational technologies1.
