behavior is very important and often needs to be monitored. The principal at my school is considering whether or not eighth grade students should be graded not only on academics but also on their behavioral performance. Obviously grading students based on behavior is an excellent idea because it is a fantastic way for parents to determine how their children are behaving while they are not present, students' grades and behavior will also improve if they know they are being graded based on to behavior. Overall it is a wonderful and beneficial idea to evaluate students based on behavior, which should definitely be done. Not only should students be evaluated on academic terms but also on behavior, when student behavior is evaluated, parents receive a report on how their children are behaving while they are not present. If student behavior is not assessed, parents must rely solely on what the child is telling them, the child could easily lie to them or retain information about what happened to themselves. now parents would have a full report and not just a few letters and short comments about how their child is behaving. Parents are not always informed about what goes on behind closed doors at the school, it would be great for them to have something else to refer to for this information. parents will know how students really do, not just whether they are smart and can get amazing grades all year long. if parents see behavioral problems that students would otherwise keep hidden in a relationship, then they will be able to help them and work with them to improve them. It is important and necessary for parents to be aware of their children's behavior at school, assessing students based on behavior is the perfect way to keep parents informed. Furthermore, if students are aware that they are being evaluated based on behavior, it will influence them to improve their behavior. many students will not pass up the opportunity to receive an easy grade. when students are reprimanded after misbehavior, they often try to make excuses and escape punishment (some do). when the behavior is evaluated there would be no escape, it would be like making fun of incomplete work. just as students must learn and complete homework, students must learn how to behave. many students who were previously misbehaving will begin to do so to avoid disappointing and being scolded by parents when they receive reports of their child's behavior.
