The most common question senior students like me get these days is probably “What is your career goal?” I am not embarrassed to say that I want to be remembered in the history books as an eminent computer scientist like Richard Hamming. This is my life goal and it definitely requires exceptional research. Furthermore, I have a natural thirst for new techniques and appreciate the excitement brought by technological progress. However, neither my need for research skills nor my insatiable appetite for knowledge are satisfied by a college education. So here I am applying for a PhD. degree. In my first year I specialized in Information Management and Information Systems, which is a combination of IT techniques and business administration. However, only the technical parts of my courses could appeal to me and I particularly enjoyed the process of solving coding problems.
