Topic > Influence of Social Media on Food - 1196

We see food ads everywhere. Whether you're reading a magazine, newspaper, watching television, or just driving down the highway and seeing all the billboards, ads are everywhere. The food ads you see grab the viewer's attention. As if a thesis statement captures the reader's attention. For example; the Doritos commercials they use during the Super Bowl. A few years ago they had a commercial with a little boy whose mother brought home her boyfriend, and when the boy takes a Dorito the little boy slaps him and says, "keep your hands off my mommy, and keep your hands off my mom." my Doritos. The advert said Doritos were as important as the baby's mother. He would protect his mother and the Doritos because they were so good he didn't want to share them. Everyone loves their mom and comparing the two together or putting them together gets a viewer's attention to say hey, they're just as important as your mom. Social media "manipulates" people into believing they need that particular food product. They make food seem more important than it really is
