Yet these people don't stop to consider what's going on behind the scenes when they watch dolphins and whales swim and splash in the water with their trainers. If you approached a trainer and asked about the abuse these animals endure every day in order to perform their shows and tricks, the trainer would say that it is educational and necessary to keep the animals in captivity. They would also defend these abusive acts by talking about the information they are getting about animals and how they can use this information to help animals in the wild. This is due to their ignorance in saying such terrible things about these intelligent but defenseless animals. These animals endure far more torture in captivity than most people would like to admit to themselves. Furthermore, the “facts” that instructors tell SeaWorld visitors are not true. For example, as seen in the movie Blackfish, trainers do not provide accurate data on lifespan in and out of captivity, as well as the percentage of collapsed fins.
