Some major states like California legalize marijuana and all other states should simply follow suit. Medical marijuana research should be further developed before others decide to legalize marijuana. Some may simply see it as a means to help society, but the truth is that it is an illicit drug. Legalizing marijuana will cause a slippery slope effect, causing incidents such as impaired driving, increased underage use, and misdemeanors under the law. The Supreme Court has begun investigating cases of medical marijuana use. According to Reflections On Medical Marijuana Prosecutions and The Duty To Seek Justice, “Just four years later, in Gonzales v Raich, the Court affirmed the federal government's authority under the Commerce Clause to prosecute noncommercial intrastate cultivation and possession of medical marijuana" (Kreit, 2012). The Commerce Clause regulates trade with other nations. This gave the federal government the power to legally prosecute non-commercial marijuana from other nations. Since marijuana is not legal in all states, the public will try to find other ways to obtain it
