People sometimes ask, “Why should I give money to this project? There's no way I can make much difference. The founder of the Cooperative Program, or PC, thought differently. Since Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, for they have a good reward for their labor,” how much more can a hundred people do? How much more can 16 million people do? Well, through CP, immense success comes from its rich history, concise system and testimonies of life-changing stories. More importantly, the success of the PC has fostered a revolution in today's world. Based on tnbaptist.org's explanation, the formation of the Southern Baptist Convention, or SBC, in 1845, caused an exponential growth in the rate of ministry. Every single national and state convention organization raised funds for missions through “countless specials, overlapping pledge campaigns, and frequent emergency appeals” (Rickman). As a result, representatives from multiple agencies often found themselves eager to share their fundraising desires before a church congregation, so donors funded for a fundraiser rather than a ministry. For this reason, CFS soon found itself with a seemingly insurmountable debt. To overcome this debt, in 1919 the SBC launched the $75 Million Campaign, a campaign that challenged Baptists to raise $75 million within five years. Southern Baptists pledged to raise $92.6 million during this campaign; however, they only donated $58.5 million due to “a financial depression that erupted throughout the South immediately following Victory Week” (Harris).
