Given the name Igor Fydorovich Stravinsky at birth, Sir Igor was born on June 17, 1882. He was an American artist born in Russia. He earned his middle name "Fydorovich" from his father whose name was Fyodor. He was a naturalized French and American composer, pianist and conductor. He was born in Oranienbaum, a suburb near St. Petersburg, Russia. He lived a wonderful and very successful life. He came to the United States in 1939 and renewed his interest in popular music, writing new music in the United States. He lived to be 88 and died in New York City, New York in the United States. His body was transported to Venice where he was buried. There was a large gathering at his funeral. People from all over the world came to see the body of the great Igor Stravinsky lying six feet under the ground. He had a lot of expectations to live up to with his parents who were very talented just like him. His mother was a very talented pianist who took her music very seriously, urging her son to become as good as she was at performing different types of music. His father was an extraordinary opera singer, he was very well known. He eventually died of cancer. This period of his death was known as Bloody Sunday. This was a very sad day for the people who loved and appreciated the works he performed. He identified himself as the great inventor of music. Considering he knew a lot about music and was very intelligent. One of his very famous works was The Rite of Spring, last year in band class we had to write an essay on that wonderful performance. This was one of the greatest pieces I've ever written. It was a piece he had worked very hard on for a long time. He was the only survivor of his family, of the loved ones he had lost. Igor suffered from various respiratory problems throughout his wonderful career.
